  • DFINITY Foundation has $200,000,000 in grant funding. This program is designed for Developers & Community Builders.

  • Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and State Secretary for Research, Education and Innovation pay DFINITY a visit.

  • ckBTC Point-of-Sale payment dapp is living now! Dapp developer @kristoferlund showcases these interesting features to the community to realize BTC usage on IC with near zero fees and instant confirmations.

  • Stack published complete "Internet Computer Analysis Report", it stated that developer activities on Github reached 534 commits in past 4 weeks vs industry average number 1 commits. And 1928 commits in past 12 weeks vs industry average number 9. Meanwhile., 1112 developers in total have contributed to Internet Computer over the past year.

  • Community idea from @rdobrik, he believes that the scope of ICP is much larger than pure crypto platforms. It can handle many traditional financial use cases on-chain, such as credit card processing terminals. "ISO 20022 is not just about compliance but mainly defines universal data type standards for finance use cases. "ICP is one of the few blockchain platforms capable of storing such data messages on the chain.

  • Core Protocol Progress

    • Canister history on the IC

      • Jul 28, @mraszyk from DFINITY team updated the Internet Computer (IC) now allows users to have more insight into a canister’s history, both in terms of which code has been running and who deployed this code. The relevant replica code change to enable this feature was approved and released by the NNS DAO in proposal 122617.

  • Governance related

    • Enhancement of the SNS launch process

      • Development team from DFINITY proposed changes regarding SNS launch process in order to complete the whole launch process per one NNS proposal. Team plan to propose the new version to the NNS to deprecate the legacy initialisation path in Q3 2023. And the benefits mentioned as below:

        1. It reduces the number of manual steps needed to be performed in the launch process.

        2. It makes it easier for NNS voters and swap participants to verify a potential SNS.

  • Developers

    • IC WebSocket Proposal

      • Jul 29, @massimoalbarello highlighted key points about WS gateway and mentioned the IC WS is a service offered independently from what Dfinity is doing and thus require different SDKs.

      1. Initially, we will host a WS Gateway ourselves on AWS just to start getting feedback.

      2. The idea is to keep the WS Gateway as light as possible so for self-hosting the hardware required will depend on how many clients connect to your canister.

      3. WS Gateways do not require any approval from the NNS. In the long term, the WS Gateways could be controlled by the SNS but there is a lot to do before that.

      4. The WS Gateway will have some upper bounds on the number of clients/canisters.

  • The Republic of Palau Partners with Ripple to Pilot a US Dollar-Backed Stablecoin on the XRP Ledger.

  • The Milano Hub, the Italian central bank’s center for developing innovative ideas in finance, will support the development of the so-called Institutional DeFi for Security Token ecosystem for six months, the press release said. The platform aims to help traditional financial institutions to experiment with security tokens and execute transactions using DeFi rails in a safe, regulated manner.
