Important announcements

  • The new P2P layer is announced which is targeting to improve the performance of the Internet Computer, allow for better scalability, reduces code complexity.

  • UTOPIA, a private virtual cloud platform are recently unveiled by DFINITY to replace traditional cloud service. UTOPIA owners can create their own systems and services on their private clouds, as well as install pre-made dapps.

  • A new tutorial series has been published in the dev docs, providing a crash-course style for hackathon participants to develop on ICP and kickstart their projects.

  • Proposal 127120/127121, upgrades the testnet watchdog canister to make it less sensitive to conditions that would disable access to the bitcoin API.

  • Proposal 127037, Upgrade the Registry Canister to rrevent duplicate ECDSA keys when creating, updating and recovering a subnet, etc.

  • Proposal 127036, Add deadline_timestamp_seconds metric per open proposal in governance canister.

  • Scalable Messaging Model

    • proposed to extend the current messaging model in two directions: small messages with guaranteed responses, and best-effort messages.

  • Technical Working Group DeAI

    • Meeting of this week: introduced tract-ic-ai, a pruned-down version of ‘tract’, which supports 85% of ONNX functionality, a generic machine learning model, and parameter storage template. And discussed the challenges of implementing large language models like GPT-2 in the 'burn' library due to the lack of necessary node functions.
