Important announcements

• DFINITY team released 2023 summary report! The ICP developer community has risen to the top five in crypto ecosystems, with a 56% increase in open GitHub repos and a 67% increase in node providers, doubling the number of countries with node machines.

• DFINITY has successfully implemented MintSnsTokens, a new proposal that allows SNS token minting, following its successful adoption.

• The new Wasm instrumentation algorithm significantly improves performance for language interpreters, enabling developers to run canisters more efficiently and cost-effectively.

• DFINITY team introduced new module “Random”, which provides the fundamentals for user abstractions to build on.

• Subnet Rental & Swiss Subnet

  • DFINITY team raised discussion about the subnet rental business case in the forum and regarded the Swiss subnet as the first use case.

• Technical Working Group DeAI

  •  ELNA showcased the project, and the organizer called for submissions of use cases from the community.

• ckETH: a canister-issued Ether twin token on the IC

  • Tutorial about "How to Acquire ckETH" is released.

•  Increased Canister Smart Contract Memory

  •  DFINITY plans to propose in an upcoming replica version to increase from 96GiB to 400GiB. More increases are planned later this year.

• ICP.Hub North America will kick off 1st weekly office hours on Jan 14.
