    • Planned amendment to DFINITY’s SNS Voting Guidelines 

      • Aug 22, DFINITY foundation proposed a amendment to SNS voting guideline: NF contribution may at most be 50% of the minimum ICP funding target in addition to up to 33% of the maximum funding target. The new rules supposed to be activated by Oct 1st.

  • Boundary Nodes

    • Aug 23, Team is working on a new boundary node architecture to address decentralization. The new architecture splits today’s boundary nodes into API boundary nodes and HTTP Gateways. First work on the API boundary nodes, while keeping today’s boundary nodes fully operational. Then, team will propose to the NNS to roll out the API boundary nodes. Once they stand the test, team will start rolling out the HTTP gateways and retiring today’s boundary nodes. For HTTP gateways, DFINITY will provide a reference implementation that enables anyone in the community to run their own HTTP gateway with minimal effort.

    • Stable Structures: Removing the Bounded Size Requirement

      • Aug 22, ielashi from DFINITY updated, PR for new BTreeMap support has been submitted, pending performance optimizations. Once merged, team can release a beta and gather community feedback. Team plan to test the Bitcoin state offline before releasing the version, and plan to upgrade the Bitcoin canister for production use. But the timeline cannot be released yet.

General Regulations

  • Coinbase acquires a minority stake in Circle Internet Financial, dissolving the Centre Consortium partnership (USDC issuer). Circle will issue USD Coin in-house, and six more blockchains will gain native support for USDC, making a total of 15 blockchains now in support of USDC.

  • Javier Milei, a libertarian candidate and member of the "La Libertad Avanza" party, won the Argentinean primary election and is a Bitcoin advocate

  • Bitstamp, a leading digital-asset exchange, will discontinue staking services in the US due to regulatory crackdowns by the SEC, effective September 25.
